Practice Synopsis

If you’re looking for an opportunity to freely talk about your issues with a professional who is respectful of your views and capabilities, and to freely articulate and move towards your aspirations, goals, and dreams, you're in the right place, and all individual adults in Alberta and Ontario are welcome.

I'm passionate about client success, professional ethics, and your cybersecurity, and the types of issues I assist people with include:

  • PTSD / trauma
  • Relationships (personal, work)
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Mild Depression

Counselling / Psychotherapy sessions are available as follows:

  • In person in Calgary (Kensington neighbourhood)
  • Virtual within Alberta or Ontario (secure video, or phone)
  • Weekdays
  • Select weekday evenings (virtual only)

I understand that word of mouth can be a very important factor in choosing services! That said, actually the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) states that:

"Counsellors/therapists do not use testimonials by clients, former clients, or by relatives or friends of clients." (04May2023)

And the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) states that:

"Testimonials from clients, former clients, or other persons regarding a member's practice are not permitted in advertising." (04May2023)

So, I'm afraid I am not able to post any testimonials on my website, or to request that any client provide a rating or review of my services that would be included in any advertising.

That said, a couple of things that can help inform you in your search include:

1. Checking that a prospective counsellor or psychotherapist's registration / membership with their regulatory body or professional association is in good standing, or review any notes about their registration or membership if there are any. This information can usually be found online.

2. Referring to this helpful list of questions to ask an RP, issued by the CRPO:

To that end, if there are any questions I can answer for you, please let me know, I am happy to address any. Thank you.

Thoughtful Quotes

“Emotions – fear, anger, love – are as necessary for the organism’s survival as nerve impulses, immune cells or hormonal activity..” (Dr. Gabor Mate, When the Body Says No)

“you cannot learn to know a man until you have eaten a peck of salt with him” (The Ethics of Aristotle, Book Eight)

“Each added convenience came at a price, including a weakened connection to the natural and social environment.” (Clinical Psychology Professor Mattias Desmet)

“And it is rare, to see two trajectories meet — the abstract knowledge about the power of cultural conditioning, and the gut realization of what that conditioning has meant in one’s own life.” (Panning for Gold, Mary Sykes Wylie)

“‘How does one become a butterfly?’ she asked pensively. ‘You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.’” (Trina Paulus)

About Trudi Jane Wyatt, MA, RP, CT, CCC

Hello. I have been providing counselling & psychotherapy services since 2009, starting in Southern California where I earned my Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. This is my 3rd career, with a background in market research management, and fitness.

In my practice I have worked with a variety of individuals such as executives, nurses, lawyers, physicians, public servants, post-secondary students, performers, people who are required to attend therapy for different reasons, teenagers, families, groups, and others. Currently I work with individual adults living in either Calgary, the rest of Alberta, or Ontario.

I take pride in being an ethical, knowledgeable, reliable, respectful, intelligent, collaborative, and non-pathologizing counsellor, and I am very mindful of my clients’ cyber privacy and confidentiality (for example, I do not text with clients, I offer encrypted email for communications, etc.). I also encourage clients to keep up with their physical health, due to the mind-body connection.

My credentials include Registered Psychotherapist (RP, CRPO), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC, CCPA), Counselling Therapist (CT, ACTA), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California, not in use at this time).

I think we all experience various emotional or behavioural challenges from time to time, and that the role of a counsellor or psychotherapist can be to support someone in their ongoing quest to move in the direction of a more satisfying, peaceful, happy, and meaningful life.
